When I recall my four years at Mount St. Ursula, I think of the gifts that I received from my high school days, gifts that last a lifetime. I was given the gifts of an excellent education, experience in leadership skills, a set of core values, including excellence, service and social consciousness, and deep friendships that have stood the test of time.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Mount St. Ursula on two occasions, once during the fundraiser in November 2007, "Casino Night" (a great night of fun!), and again during a day when school was in session. The students in the classroom were actively participating in class and their excitement and enthusiasm for learning was evident. Their smiles looked very familiar. Whether your last visit to Bedford Park was two years ago when you graduated, or twenty years ago when you attended your last reunion, you would still feel right at home at MSU. What gifts we were given!

Now, more than ever, Mount St. Ursula needs your financial support to continue to provide the academic excellence and stability that today's "Girls of Mount St. Ursula" need to become leaders, successful in their chosen goals, and recognizable by their compassion to others.

At this time I humbly ask you to open up your hearts and consider making a contribution. For those of you who are among our generous benefactors, I urge you to continue your support, which has been vital to our school's success. If you have not had the opportunity to participate in the Annual Fund in the past, I encourage you to consider making a contribution. By supporting these young women with your gift we can help them form the foundation that will shape their entire lives as they sing (as we did), "Girls of Mount St. Ursula, staunch and true, life calls unto you..."

Warmest regards from your fellow alumna,

Debbie (Kiernan) O'Connor, Class of 1977
