MSU Teacher Receives Archdiocesan Educator Award
On Thursday, October 11th at the Teachers Institute at Cardinal Spellman High School, Sr. Alice Marie Giordano, OSU '52 received the Elizabeth Ann Seton Compassionate Educator Award. The characteristics upon which this award is based include reverent concern for all students, recognition of the potential in each student and daily incorporation of Catholic values. As an alumna of the school who returned in 1974 and has served as a teacher, Religion Department Chair and twice as Assistant Principal for Academics, Sr. Alice Marie embodies all of the qualities listed above.
She is a visible force throughout the school and by her selfless actions has taught compassion by word and example. The students love her because she freely gives her time to them whenever needed and will stop whatever she is doing to listen to someone in distress or excited with good news. Her inspiration is contagious and her students are motivated daily to work hard and serve their community.
