MSU Shakespeare Contest

On Wednesday, January 30th, the Academy of Mount St. Ursula held a Shakespeare Contest open to all students within the sophomore, junior and senior classes. Danielle Flores '09 won the school-wide competition and will represent Mount St. Ursula in the city-wide competition sponsored by the English Speaking Union on February 25th at the DeCapo Theatre in Manhattan. If she wins, Danielle has the opportunity to advance to the finals and win a summer study on Shakespeare in London, England.

All participants had to recite a Shakespearean monologue by memory. They were judged on their poise, elocution, presence and reading for meaning abilities. Eight of the Mount's faculty members volunteered as judges for the competition.
