Wendy Hado '07 - Gates Millennium Scholar
Congratulations to Wendy Hado, Class of 2007 who was selected as a Gates Millennium Scholar entering Dartmouth College this fall. This year the Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS) program attracted over 11,000 applicants. Wendy received the distinct honor to be recognized as one of 1,000 GMS. Wendy was commended on her strong leadership, community service and academic achievements that distinguished her as a Leader for Americas Future.
Throughout Wendys undergraduate career, GMS will review her financial aid package annually determine a new award amount. In addition, upon review of the aid package, GMS can continue funding for her education through the masters and doctoral levels if she pursues graduate studies in the fields of education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.
The GMS program provides more than a scholarship. Their Leadership and Scholar Relations programs offer Academic Empowerment services (ACE) for Scholars to support academic success and graduate education planning. In addition, GMS provides a wide range of resources including mentoring services, an online resource center that gives students access to internships, fellowships, and scholarships as well as the opportunity to attend leadership and other conferences.
