AMSU

French Club

Moderator: Mrs. Feerick

The French Club at Mount St. Ursula consists of all the French students in grades 9-12. Its purpose is to promote the diffusion of the French language and culture in the MSU community.

Members make French come alive through the use of music, films and the Internet. Students expand their familiarity of the Francophone world by giving presentations encouraging travel to France as well as to French-speaking countries in Africa, Asia, South America, the Pacific and Europe. Students "travel" to these global French cultural centers via the Internet and then relate these voyages to their friends.

In addition, classmates encourage one another to discuss contemporary topics such as pastimes, studies, and adolescent life in French. In harmony with Mount St. Ursulas Catholic heritage, all members learn to pray in French just like their counterparts in French schools. Students take advantage of their artistic talents to decorate our halls with "bandes dessinees" (comic strips) which line the corridors of our school.

When they tire of speaking in French, our members break into song. The holidays provided a wonderful opportunity to learn Christmas carols. Members also performed an entertaining musical number at this years International Night. The French Club has genuinely put French in action at MSU.
