About Rosedale
All of Rosedale’s programs instill a sense of personal worth by developing students’ talents, character, and spirit of service, and by strengthening academic skills and work habits through individualized attention.  The staff and volunteers collaborate with parents and families to prepare students so they can complete their education and make a positive contribution to their families and community. Rosedale’s programs are inspired by the social teachings of the Catholic Church and the spirit of Opus Dei, a prelature of the Catholic Church, and are open to students, volunteers and staff regardless of race, creed or nationality.

Working mainly from a three-story row house, we provide students with individual attention in a nurturing environment through either one-on-one or small group settings. They benefit from our programs’ emphasis on individual mentoring and friendship, parental involvement, and character building through academic achievement.

One-on-One Tutoring
This program pairs volunteers from Fordham University and young professional volunteers with a student in grades 4-12. The pair generally stays together throughout the academic year, allowing the tutor to monitor her academic progress and to tailor the tutoring sessions to her needs. Tutors are encouraged to befriend their student and to get to know her family as well. Tutoring takes place at the Rosedale Center from Monday through Thursdays, 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

Standardized Test Prep
Girls may request tutoring in standardized test preparation. This includes TACHS (formerly COOP) prep (fall semester), and SAT prep (spring semester).

Rosedale Challenge
Students practice problem solving, decision-making, entrepreneurship skills, resilience, initiative, and creativity by completing “Positive Impact Projects,” where they identify community issues, conduct research, collaborate, and come to consensus around a solution to be implemented as a team.

Students also practice essential teambuilding skills and make lifelong friendships with their peers and mentors. Students receive individual attention through mentoring where they discuss both strengths and areas in need of improvement.

Music Program
Girls in grades 3 through 12 can participate in personal, tuition-free violin, voice, or guitar sessions. Highly qualified music teachers from Concordia Conservatory come to Rosedale to teach private lessons to girls each Friday. When signing up for the music program, the girls must commit to a minimum of 100 minutes per week of rehearsal. For more information on Concordia Conservatory in Bronxville, NY, please see
