AMSU student leaders from NYC Smoke-Free Reality Check Chapter joined fellow students from across the state in Albany for the annual Legislative Day.

St. Ursula student leaders from NYC Smoke-Free Reality Check Chapter joined fellow students from across the state in Albany for the annual Legislative Day. On this day, students displayed their advocacy skills by sharing the importance of educating their peers and communities on the ways to create a healthier, smoke-free lifestyle for all.

Some highlights of the day included students participation in a youth advocacy training, youth panel discussion and celebration of the Youth Advocate of the Year ceremony. Students also meet with their government officials and discussed the program, accomplishments, ways they hope to create a change in their school and home communities as well as the importance of their work in tobacco control.

AMSU will be hosting an event on March 23 for Kicks Butts Day during a school assembly. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco.
