Mrs. Cameron and Mrs. Fabrizio’s Participation in Government classes Election 2016 Poll
Mrs. Cameron’s and Mrs. Fabrizio’s Participation in Government senior classes conducted public opinion polls based on the 2016 Presidential and Congressional Elections. Each student polled eight to ten citizens with questions relating to: political party preference, incumbents and challengers; importance of personal character or stand on issues; personal characteristics of candidates such as gender and religion; and which issue should be the federal government’s top priority. Through participation in this project, students learned about the polling process and applied critical thinking skills to analyze questions relating to polling accuracy and current issues with polling. Students determined what factors are important when determining the accuracy of a poll, and put this knowledge into practice through the analysis of their own polls.
