Pi Day Math Contest

This year, the Mathematics Department at Academy of Mount St. Ursula will be celebrating Pi Day on Tuesday, March 14th!Three department-wide contests will be held:

Pi Memorization Contest
On Tuesday March 14th, verbally list from memory as many consecutive digits of pi as you can! Contest will be held in room 203 during the Pi Day Celebration at 2:45 pm. The first 1000 digits of pi can be found on the back of this sheet. The top three contestants will receive a prize.

Poster Decorating Contest
Using a standard size poster board (22 in. by 28 in.), make a poster focusing on pi or Albert Einstein. (3/14 is also his birthday.)

Departmental awards will be given in two categories:

  • Most informative about pi or Einstein (history, facts, people associated with).
  • Most creative/artistic using pi or Einstein.

The math faculty will vote, and the top three posters in each category will receive a prize.Posters are due by Wednesday, March 8″, to your math teacher, so that the posters can be displayed around the school.


Write an original poem or song about Pi, Einstein, or concepts in math. The top three poems/songs will receive a prize. Poems/ songs are due no later than March 8th to your math teacher.

If selected as a winner, you are welcome to perform your song/poems at our Pi Day Celebration on Tuesday, March 14th after school.

OR, just join us for a Pi bay celebration on March le at 2:45 pm in room 203.
We will be completing an investigation lesson on pi! Snacks will be provided to all participants!
Let your math teacher know if you plan on attending.
