The Internship Program
During the school year, students in the Internship Program participate in paid internships; they work between 12 and 15 hours per week at a New York City business, non-profit organization, or government agency. Additionally, interns receive ongoing support from Futures and Options staff and attend regular work-readiness workshops and career exploration field trips. The program is open to New York City high school students 16 years of age or older.
Accepted students will interview at prospective work sites in order to secure internship placements. Interns work 150+ hours over the course of the program.
Applications for the Internship Program are accepted on a rolling basis. Interested students can apply online at this link; if it is difficult for them to access the internet, feel free to have them print and fill out the attached version, which can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students in the Career Essentials program attend one orientation and twelve weekly two-hour workshops, each held in our office in the Financial District. Participants in the program learn how to professionally interview, present information to a group, behave in a professional environment, manage their time, and create an effective resume. Each student also participates in two career exploration field trips that give them a chance to learn about different industries and network with professionals who are willing to share career advice and insights from their own lives. Career Essentials affords students an opportunity to learn and form relationships with other students from all five boroughs.
