Scholarships and Grants

The Brescia Academic Excellence Scholarship (Merit)

Academic scholarships, full and partial, are awarded to an incoming student based on her strong performance on the TACHS exam and middle school academic record.  This is a 4-year award if she maintains a minimum 90 GPA, with good attendance and conduct. Tuition and fees must remain current.

The Brescia Scholarship cannot be combined with any other tuition discounts, except the Sibling Discount, including external sources such as, but not limited to, Inner City, BASF, SSP, Bridge-up, and various school and memorial scholarships.

Legacy Scholarships

Legacy Scholarships are available for students whose mother, grandmother, or sister graduated from AMSU. The Legacy Scholarship is $500 per school year.

Archdiocesan (ADNY) Employee Discount

Students whose parent or legal guardian is employed full-time by the New York Archdiocese are eligible to receive a $1,000 discount.  Proof of full-time employment in the ADNY must be submitted for the academic year.  Proof is defined as an original letter on letterhead from the principal, or the equivalent, and a copy of the most recent employee pay stub.  There is a limit of one (1) employee discount per qualifying household.

Sibling Discount

Families with more than one daughter attending AMSU during the same academic year are eligible to receive a $500 discount for each additional sibling. The discount will be applied to the tuition account of the eldest sibling and will remain in effect until the withdrawal or graduation of the eldest sibling.

External Assistance

AMSU also participates in programs such as BridgeUP, SSP BASF, and Inner-City Scholarship Fund. Applications for such tuition assistance must be made through the participating agency and cannot be combined with any AMSU tuition discounts except the sibling discount.

AMSU Financial Aid (need-based)

Each year, Academy of Mount St. Ursula makes available from the school budget a limited amount of funds for tuition assistance. The application process for incoming Grade 9 students is from October 14, 2023, to January 3, 2024. All applications are filed online and cost $35.00 which is non-refundable. The application for all grades is through Blackbaud Financial Aid Management. Only completed and verified applications will be considered for financial aid. Students will be notified of financial aid awards in their acceptance packet.

There is no way to determine in advance if you will receive financial aid since we consider individual factors, extenuating circumstances, availability of funds, and the number of families applying for aid.  You will be notified directly by the AMSU Finance Office i.e., whether we have granted an award, or your application has been rejected. Financial Aid cannot be combined with any other awarded tuition discounts, except the Sibling Discount.

The sum of tuition discounts, both AMSU-awarded and external third-party, cannot exceed the amount of tuition.  In the event the combined tuition discounts exceed tuition, then AMSU will reduce its award(s) accordingly.  At a minimum, the family is fully responsible for the general and all other fees and incidental expenses.  In most cases, AMSU is required to report your total tuition assistance to third-party foundations, in accordance with the terms of your scholarship.  This may result in the reduction of one or more of your awards so that the combined assistance does not exceed the tuition portion of your total tuition and fees.

10th, 11th, and 12th graders can apply for financial aid between March 2024 and April 2024. Announcements are made in May.
